Slowly but surely I'm dipping my toe back into fannish reading, and here are some of the awesome things I've read of late:

Works in Progress
Title: Whispers Behind Rice Paper Walls (2008 - present)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] hikari_hime_73
Universe: Canon (post manga divergence)
Genre: Darkfic, Romance, Mystery
Rating: X
Warning: Explicit Sex
Pairing: Sesshoumaru/Kagome
Word Length: 36,892 (13 chapters)
URL: http://dokuga.com/fanfiction/story/560/1
Author's Summary: After another near death experience for Rin, Sesshoumaru decides to take his ward and her unsuspecting savior under his wing... Kagome was never to suspect her role in unravelling the wicked plans of the Western citadel courtesans.

Why I'm recommending this piece: The only piece I'm willing to go to Dokuga for (though the first nine chapters are also up at Media Miner). This is a delicious darkfic of the best kind: psychological mindfuckery, with a thin veneer of violence and threat of more layered on top. Yum!

Completed Works
Title: The Ushi Oni (2010)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] knittingknots
Universe: Canon (post-manga)
Genre: Action/Adventure
Rating: K+
Warning: None
Pairing: None
Word Length: 11,344 (7 chapters)
URL: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5836282/1/
Author's Summary: InuYasha and Miroku head out to help a village deal with a powerful youkai that is plaguing them. Why is this time different than previous youkai exterminations and who is this boy who befriends him? Takes place Summer, 1568 in my timeline.

Why I'm recommending this piece: Nobody captures the friendship and companionship between Inuyasha and Miroku quite like KK. This is a wonderful slice of life centering not only around an exciting youkai hunt, but also exploring the depth of friendship between the two male leads. Somehow, you just can't imagine one without the other here...:) The original character Yoshi is also quite adorable, and the right kind of OC ~ one who blends into the background seamlessly, but adds so much to the story.

**While overhauling the tagging system over at [livejournal.com profile] iy_no_kakera, I stumbled upon some absolutely fabulous and fantastically funny short pieces by [livejournal.com profile] seaouryou, who held an Inupapa & Sesshoumaru claim a few years ago. She manages to write Sesshoumaru as very put upon, and yet still prideful and witty, which very few authors can do, and still make him seem in-character. You should take a gander at all of her fics, but these stood out as the best, in my book ~

Title: Hell and Back (2005)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] seaouryou
Universe: Canon
Genre: Humor
Rating: T
Warning: None
Pairing: Inupapa/Izayoi
Word Length: 800
URL: http://community.livejournal.com/iy_no_kakera/9470.html
Author's Summary: Inu no Taishou gets resurrected and won’t tell them how. Sesshoumaru decides his father just likes screwing with people. He really should get a new hobby.

Title: Repercussions (2005)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] seaouryou
Universe: Canon
Genre: Humor
Rating: T
Warning: None
Pairing: None
Word Length: 500
URL: http://community.livejournal.com/iy_no_kakera/19761.html
Author's Summary: Hell hath no fury.

Why I'm recommending this piece: This is how you do dialogue-only!

Title: Forced Love (2005)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] seaouryou
Universe: Canon (pre-manga)
Genre: General/Introspective
Rating: T
Warning: None
Pairing: Inupapa/Izayoi
Word Length: 500
URL: http://community.livejournal.com/iy_no_kakera/3225.html
Author's Summary: And that’s just as bad as hate.

If anyone would like to recommend anything to me, please feel free! =) I'm mixing in more regular novels and pro!fic these days, but am always on the hunt for a nice, satisfying fanfic to sink my teeth into.

Pretty much anything [livejournal.com profile] seaouryou writes is awesome. She writes in the Supernatural fandom too, and awhile ago, the Heroes fandom. I love her stuff so much! She's a really witty, clever writer.

*goes to check out the SessKag*

Read the first chapter and enjoyed it! I'm definitely reading more of it!

I hardly have any faith in SessKag anymore, so fics like this are gems to find.

I would agree with you about Seaouryou and KK.

I am glad that you and the Dokugans are there for HH.

Thanks for the plug and the nice words on the Ushi Oni. I really like writing Miroku/InuYasha friendship fics, a niche that needs more people writing them.

I've got recs, but for Harry Potter and Dragon Ball Z.... Oh, there is this cheesy Inu/Kag fic I read where she became a cat-hanyou.
