Summary: Exactly what it says on the tin: a post-canon BSC headcanon in which Charlie Thomas and Janine Kishi discover each other, become great friends, and fall in love. The namesake of this series is the 1966 song by Gary Lewis & The Playboys, because I thought it rather fitting to this particular pairing:

If you need someone to count on when you’re down

( And now I shall attempt to juggle two simultaneous headcanons for the same characters at the same time )

This series is going to be written exclusively from Charlie's POV, mostly because I think that will be the most interesting way to tell this. If he could birth a baby himself, he'd do it, but he can't - so he'll go through his wife's pregnancy every step of the way, from this moment of them deciding to start trying, to her actually having the baby, and beyond.

I know kid!fic isn't everyone's cup of tea. It isn't even my cup of tea, but I've had a surprisingly nice response to the first two entries in this series. We'll see if anybody else wants to board this train with me, or if they'd rather stick to the fun falling-in-love Count Me In universe instead. These two post-canon continuums are totally unrelated. Which will make life interesting for me, because I'll be working on them both at the same time. Luckily, writing for one tends to inspire me to pursue ideas for the other, so hopefully this won't be the last SMC fill for these two in some capacity :D
