Yay! =) I was so excited about the prospect of updating this fic today that I could barely sit still at work, LOL. And it's a double length chapter, too, so hopefully that will make up for the extra time it's taken to update.

There are quite a few notes/references this week, so let's jump right in, shall we?

[+] The title song was a cover of a cover, LOL. Originally by Tommy James & the Shondells, this was also probably Tiffany's biggest hit, back in the day. Stacy does a fine job covering it as well ~ definitely one of my faves from this season :)

[+] Brendan Roberts is a blast from the past - season two (1985), specifically - who first showed up at the P*lace promising the Kids top-drawer management and a record deal...even though he wasn't yet 20, and lived over the local luncheonette :P He appeared two more times in the second season, but none was quite as memorable as his first...

[+] Ryan wearing sweaters is canon! Albeit "special" canon. Kids Inc was filmed during the summer months of the year (thus, allowing the kids to go to school), so they are never really shown wearing winter clothing at any point, and quite a few of the episodes themselves are summer-themed. However, between the 1986 and 1987 seasons, the cast and crew made a special hour-long feature called 'Rock in the New Year'...which was actually one of the first things I ever downloaded because I'd never seen it before :) It's not on YouTube, but a few of the songs are, including the opener:

(The comments for this song are classic, BTW :P)

[+] Parents were never seen on the show. Riley was the go-to "adult" character (though in reality, he wasn't that much older than the kids - a testament to Moosie Drier's acting, no doubt) on the show, and that was very refreshing, because it meant the kids had to sort out their problems themselves, and look to each other (or other kids) for leadership. So, basically, I suppose though she existed in canon (and was mentioned far more than any of the other kids' parents), Stacy's mother is an original character.

[+] The Julliard tour bit holds true for today - the school is only open to visitors during the one hour scheduled tour each day, which must be booked in advance. I'm sure some of this was response to 9/11, but I'm willing to handwave that for the sake of the plot. I actually reworked that scene five or six times before finding something I liked, believe it or not. Quite a bit of the Julliard campus has been revamped in the ensuing years, but from what I can gather, the old building was...just an old building, LOL. Rather nondescript, and certainly nothing like what it looks like today. Even though I've done some pretty extensive research for this fic, quite a bit of the NYC scenes have some degree of handwaving, simply because the landscape has changed in the last 25 years. Apologies in advance if this bothers anyone :-/

[+] Pop-Tarts actually came out for the first time in 1963, believe it or not :P I don't think any version of them are particularly good for you, but if you were like me, they were the go-to breakfast treat around, and the easiest way to convince the 'rents you were shoveling something in your gullet before school. Too bad you can hardly find the unfrosted ones anymore...

...and the ending? Revealing that for those who don't understand the reference will totally ruin the next chapter, so you'll just have to wait a week ;)

Enjoy!
