Fandom History & Inspiration Meme - Day 18

Day 18 – Where do you get the most inspiration for your fics (aka "bunnies") from?

I get ideas from everywhere - books, movies, TV shows, friends, family, life experiences - but the vast majority of those bunnies that come to fruition come from songs. I absolutely LOVE listening to music, in general and when I'm writing, as I feel it really helps to set the mood and get all of the right emotions going. I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've posted up an author's note for a fic that didn't include an inspiration song, LOL. I know one of the days of this meme talks about music in general, so I'll save my gushing for then =)

But yes. Music is probably what grows the bunnies the fastest around here - the story I'm hoping to post next started from listening to a random song on YouTube, and I've already been bitten by an idea for another :P It's also what makes writing stories like Stacy in Bloom so much fun, because I'm always finding new ways to tuck in different songs!

So...yeah. This fic was pretty much the epitome of unplanned, but is a perfect example of what can happen when a song burrows into my ear and won't let go :P I was surfing YouTube, looking for some musical inspiration for the NYE concert that's coming up in Stacy in Bloom, and I stumbled onto this song. It's dumb, catchy fun, and since Ke$ha is my guilty pleasure, I had to stop and take a listen (again).

Only to have a scene flash into my mind.
