I have always been a sucker for medieval courtly love. (MA in Medieval European History) Those knights wrote poetry for their ladies(married to someone above them.)and fought for them, but in the end society would not allow them to be together.

I'm something of a hapless romantic myself :) though unrequited love is too real for me to enjoy in my fantasies. If I had my druthers I'd lose myself in the history books, too, but unfortunately that's not the case. Maybe one day if I become rich and famous and can afford the tuition LOL.

As far as Sesshoumaru goes, I do bring some personal biases. Being male hetero I feel no romantic impulses towards him. When I first saw his picture I thought he was a woman. He reminds of all I ever disliked about one of my brothers who was always perfect (perfect score on SAT's, PhD in English and Philisophy and Senior Master in chess)

That's very interesting! I'm always fascinated about what draws or repels a person to a certain character. I find the whole context of being the perfect elder heir as just another internal struggle for him to overcome. If he was so perfect, why did his father do all those things to him?

Also - I have to admit I've never thought of Inuyasha as a medieval champion, but it does put an interesting spin on his character & actions.

I have almost no interest in the S/K romance in these stories. I started reading them so I could vote on IYFG. They bring a different feel to Inuyasha than you will find in I/K. When S/K authors treat IY well I do not
find the reading stressful at all

And they're a rare breed, no doubt about it, but not many people are up to the challenge in the first place. To me, half the fun is positioning an alternate pairing so that it's viable.

Also: you are a better man than I, because I couldn't read everything that's nommed at the IYFG - I simply don't have the time. But I'm glad someone else has a sense of fairness about what should and shouldn't be voted upon :)

Sometimes I just like to read well written stories like the ones you write whether they are S/K,I/K, Sess/Rin or otherwise.

Well, I thank you for the compliment, as I do my best :) I have my personal preferences but I, too, am willing to read outside of what I most prefer if the story is good enough.
