*pimps self*

An interesting writing meme that's been making the rounds:

Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

I always think its interesting to get the author's perspective on their work.

All of mine are from Inuyasha, simply because I've only written one fic outside this fandom and it's not among my absolute faves :)

1. Coda (Inuyasha/Kagome): This is my reaction to the end of the manga. I wrote it around the same time as Perfect Kiss, which was the very first story I wrote specifically for a contest.

I'm so proud of this story, for a multitude of reasons. It's one of my more 'experimental' pieces, and was (at least at the time it was written) radically different from everything else I'd worked on. I put a ton of work into it, from developing the initial idea to the very careful execution of the final structure. I feel it's one of my absolute best :)

It's hard to believe this was my last "original" idea, but it was ~ from way back in July. Geez, have I been writing for prompts that long?! O.O

2. Criminal (Kikyo/Inuyasha): For a long time, this story held the place of "what I'm most proud of". This is a psychological portrait of Kikyo at the time of her originial death, and perhaps a motive for why she returned as she did when she was resurrected.

It was the first time I'd really delved into the psychology of a character, and I thought it was a pretty brilliant use of an inspiration song. Writing a good songfic is hard, but it all clicked for me with this one. I still love it, even if my style has improved since this was posted.

3. Four Seasons (Sesshoumaru/Kagome): Holy God...this story is very dear to me. It was a bug that absolutely would not let me go. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, I couldn't concentrate on some very important reading I was to do for class until I wrote this thing down. That's never happened to me before. It also affected me for weeks afterward, especially after the outpouring of thoughtful, touching reader responses.

4. Remembrance / Promise (Sesshoumaru/Kagome): Probably my latest little love :) I love Remembrance, and feel that it's one of my more successful songfic attempts. I liked the imagery there, and the feeling that came to me when relating the song to the story. I hate that I had a word count because there was so much more to be said...but all the same, I never really expected to write a sequel to it. Promise is a great bit of imagery, one that fit almost perfectly into its word count, LOL. It was one of those rare little bits that came out almost perfectly in the first draft.

5. Nihon Idol (whole cast): I know it doesn't seem like I love this story, considering its been on a...*counts back mentally*...4 month hiatus, but I do :) This constituted my first attempt at AU fic, and my first (and to date, only) crossover fic. I love the original season of Instant Star, so much that I'm 'rewriting' it with the cast of Inuyasha, LOL. The parallels are striking, and this will be a great story when it's all said and done.

When it will actually be all said and done...that's a different question :P
