I'm actually thinking of copying you (imitation is the greatest form of flattery, right? *sweatdrop*) and doing LJ Author's notes for Control, since I'm kinna keeping a diary of my own of how each bit of this advances and grows - it intrigues me.
Well, I hardly think I'm the first person to come up with the idea of writing author's notes here at LJ (or anywhere else, really) for consumption by readers and/or friends. Half the time, I'm writing them for myself anyway, as sort of a diary of characterization. Other times I'm more explicitly looking for feedback, to see if something I tried worked or went horribly, horribly awry... :P
And I've had some folks tell me they don't know how I can be so 'open' with the behind-the-scenes stuff, to which I'm just like, "Huh?" Yes, my stuff can be incredibly personal sometimes, but nothing I feel like I can't share with the people who are reading the original fic anyway. Plus I enjoy seeing other peoples' excessive thoughts, so why not post my own?
So, yeah - if you post author's notes on your LJ for your new story, I will be all over that, LOL. It's nice to get a feel for what the writer thinks of their own work. A lot of the time I'm downright shocked when a favorite author hates something they've written that I absolutely adored!
Oh how well I know that feeling... I'm hoping to sit down and get a lot of stuff done this "weekend" (Wednesday/Thursday).
My muses just need to cooperate. It's for characters I don't write much of (SessMom, and Sess/Rin romance), so its not like I had a cache of ideas to draw from. Good luck with yours!
It was incredibly fun to follow, too! Then I could grin as I pointed out how each little twist and turn made their appearance!
Well if it adds to the enjoyment of the fic, even fucking better, I say :) I'm glad I'm not the only one who can enjoy the 'hidden' encodings!
