Well, not so much hateful than hurtful. It came across to me as him trying to make her feel as much pain as he was possibly feeling. He did the flat announcement of his younger brother boasting about the night, then he just threw in the fact that the same brother was underhanded, too. It seemed so cold and rather calculating.
