I was shocked: 1) that I was nominated, 2) what I was nominated for, and 3) some of the other authors/stories that were nominated. I'm always shocked; I set my personal expectation level very low - I'd rather be surprised than disappointed, LOL.

Having been around the awards block a time or two, I'm not putting any eggs in any baskets just yet, but I will openly admit I covet recognition of my characterization, because I work damn hard on it :P I feel like I have a better chance in one category than another, but I'd be happy with any placement at all, you know? The fact that people read these fics at all, and enjoy them enough to nominate them for awards, makes me happy and grateful beyond words. I wouldn't be writing these pieces if I didn't love them as well :)
