when Kagome asked the elephant in the room question, the only thing I could do was laugh. I could imagine the gasps the came from everyone at her audacity.
*snerk* It was fun to let her having something of a starring role in this chapter, and I just couldn't see her keeping her mouth shut, not when such an injustice was happening right in front of her face! She still feels possessive of Sesshoumaru, even if she's not quite ready to admit it.
Inuyasha just isn't ready and mom is just clueless!
It was very interesting to read up on Japanese interviewing techniques. One of my sources said something to the effect of, "companies use panel interviews if they're feeling particularly nasty" LOL! I'd always had this scene set in my mind as a panel interview (ever since mentioning Kagome's spot on the board of directors), but that certainly put a new twist on things. They also love their long silences, whereas we Westerners literally can't go five seconds without filling in the gap, especially in a nervous/tense situation like this.
Suffice to say, I don't think I'd ever want to face a Japanese panel interview :P
As for Mom - well, again, we're seeing just how distant Kagome is from the rest of her family. Just like Sesshoumaru, she doesn't really fall in line with their expectations...but if she never mentioned her living arrangements, she'd certainly never have mentioned their disastrous relationship. And for Mom not to care enough to find out for herself...? Sorta says something about Mom.
Another touching part was the fact that Sess waited for her to get off work, even though it was hours later. Baby steps but nevertheless, steps. The way their relationship is redeveloping is really wonderful! I lubs it!!
Aww, thank you!! Yes, I think I have a decent angle to work this rebuild of the relationship (finally). It was nice to have a bit of fun and flirt after chapters and chapters of angst.
