anytime he's on page there's at least one reminder of what a good, kind, thoughtful and attentive boyfriend and friend he is.

Agreed. Todd is definitely good stuff in this book (Liz isn't worthy, especially after she gets really fixated on the crown and starts putting down her own friends).

Bruce is an incredible asshole this book, but it's presented as his guilt and sorrow over Regina's death having festered into something dark and ugly, looking desperately for an outlet.

The only reason this didn't ring true to me is because it's been 50+ books since Regina died and Bruce has had Major Storylines since then, but nothing (IIRC) this dark and ugly. It's been too long to make Regina's death the *sole* reason for his garbage behavior.

This on top of his intentionally goading Lila about John?

That was an especially shitty moment, in the sea of shitty moments. I've always kinda thought that Bruce and Lila understood each other at some basic level, but this was too far. Lila's retort about his lack of a date, however, was absolute *chef's kiss* perfect.

It's been thirty years and I still do not understand why or how this was a prom and not just a school dance. I mean, I know it was so they could push the whole prom queen angle, but Prom is kind of a singular event each year. You don't traditionally have more than one per school year (at your own school, anyway), do you?

AGREED. Also I've never heard of planning a prom in two weeks. I didn't even attend any of the proms when I was a teen and I knew enough about this to make me raise an eyebrow. I also thought the excuse of only awarding the Prom Queen was pretty weak. You already have an HS boy on board, apparently completely voluntarily, so you just need a girl? I mean, really??

she's a raging bitch for about half the book. There's a brief moment in time where she's just the right amount of self absorbed... and then it goes to hell. Basically the last third of the book has Jessica in the wrong at EVERY turn. It's exceptionally painful to read, knowing what's coming right at us.

I KNOW. I was wincing at some of her antics, especially the night of the prom on. Why did she have to think such horrible things about Sam when he came to pick her up?? D:

Who do we think Jessica voted for for Prom King?

AJ? :D
