This chapter is yet a short, precise, somewhat dry article from one the wire services (Reuters), giving an update on the search for our mysterious man's identity. I wanted to do another news article, one that would stand out in stark contrast to the first, tabloid-y one. You can think of this as the hospital doing a bit of damage control, now that the general public's interest in the case has been piqued :P
Several new pieces of information are revealed, including the biggest one: the patient has produced a handwritten score, the first piece of written communication he's had with any of his carers thus far. It's a big enough deal, just because of that, but the fact that it's handwritten is quite promising - it's amazing what handwriting experts can do these days! And, of course, since musicians are quite used to copying their sheet music (goodness knows I did enough of it back in my days of marching band, LOL), there is some hope that this man's style is distinctive enough to be recognized.
For all of the contradictions between this article and the sleazy breaking story, the report here is the one to be believed - it is accurate, and quotes more than one source, albeit they are all anonymous, still. Given the delicacy of the case, pretty much the only person who'd dare stick his neck out by giving his name is the hospital administrator, and you don't see him doing that, do you? Better to give everyone a blanket of protection, just in case the fears are true, and our victim truly has been a victim of a violent crime.
Still, it seems his medical teams are inching closer and closer to uncovering his identity - with the score, and the audio recordings, there is something they can share with the wider public in order to enlist their help. You'll notice that among those details released was not a picture of the patient himself; that was a compromise decided on between the hospital administration and the medical team. If he has been a victim of a crime, there's no need to tip off those who sought to kill him.
Obviously, we are closing in on the end of the story, and there are still a few major revelations to be had - the who, the how, the why - and the ultimate inspiration for writing this this fic in the first place :)

So even in this one I'm highly suspicious of the source in the first paragraph. ;)
Two chapters to go and you still have so many unanswered questions left. Are those chapters going to be longer? Or will you end it with a "bang"? :D
I'm getting more and more curious and then you go and say "If he has been a victim of a crime" here and make it worse. Of course, that's hospital staff's POV, but by now I'm ready to expect ANYTHING. :D
I wonder how soon the sheet music and the recordings will bring in results. I don't think that nobody will recognize his works, the question is just when. With two chapters left I would dedicate one of them to identifying the patient and the other to solve his case. Probably in this order, too. Unless you can solve the case without knowing the patient's identity?
I guess I'll see. :)

LOL!! :P Perhaps there's good reason for that - without a reliable narrator, how can you be sure who you can trust? (This is also my favorite part about Fleeting, incidentally :P)
As for the last two chapters - yes, there are still a lot of unanswered questions, so its pretty much going to be full steam ahead to give this story some sort of closure. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing/hearing others' thoughts on it - I'm not sure its what anyone will expect, which sort of fills me with glee, hehe :P
Everyone else is sorta keeping their theories close to the vest, so thank you for being so open with your speculations! :D

Glad I've been able to amuse you. ;)

That's what I really like here. A reliable narrator would not create such a realistic feel to it, by far. In real life, you don't have anybody presenting you with all the answers ahead of time either. :)
I've grown to like narrow POVs quite a bit, lately.

I'm normally very self-concious about my theories as well (because, god, what if I'm wrong??? :D), but the moment I started, I really got into it. And your replies have helped keeping me going as well. :)
