Allegiance | Series Index
The master index for my 'Allegiance' series, which I'm expanding from drabble prompts at various contest comms. As I'm writing it in a very non-linear fashion, if you'd like to enjoy the story in order, here's the place to do it.
(It took me seven entries before I needed to make this post...a personal record, haha).

Summary: Strictly-come-canon, post-manga. Kagome is forced to seek out Sesshoumaru's protection in the wake of unexpected tragedy. As she insinuates herself into his life, Sesshoumaru comes to realize her second chance is also his, as her presence drives him to confront mistakes from his own past.
Note: In the original drabbles, the Rin storyline was almost completely left out, due to word constraints. It's something that has more or less unfolded as I've written the expansions of the scenes, and I feel it is extremely important to understand Sesshoumaru's actions (not unlike in the manga).
Last update: November 3, 2011 | Series Complete

Bargain: Sesshoumaru weighs the consequences of Kagome’s bargain.
Contemplation: Kagome finally learns what happened to Rin.

Thaw: Sesshoumaru’s icy barriers crumble as he finally admits to himself what Rin really meant to him.
Emergence: Sesshoumaru and Kagome prepare for battle.
Compel: Sesshoumaru commissions Totosai to make a very special weapon.
Offering: On the eve of battle, Sesshoumaru presents Kagome with a very special gift.
Salvation: What if this whole crusade’s a charade, and behind it all there’s a price to be paid?
Consolation: Kagome struggles in the aftermath of battle.
Halo: Sesshoumaru contemplates the meaning of a kiss, and its impact on his past, his present, and his future.
Remembrance: She told him to never forget her...like that was even possible.

I look forward to reading the completed collection once I get some free time :)

You're in for a long wait, if you want to read this thing after its complete. As you can see - I have a beginning, and an end, but not terribly much story in the middle. I guess that's the chance you take when you use contest prompts as inspiration though, LOL.

BTW, I'm thinking of doing a Miroku/Sango saga during the three years Kagome was gone. Got any title suggestions? ( you know me and titles! LOL)

The index was necessary when I realized that I was filling in pieces I didn't know were missing. This is as much to keep it straight in my own head as it is for anybody else! (How sad is that?!)

Not off the top of my head, I don't. Titles are usually the last thing I come up with - I have to write at least a portion of the fic (if not the whole thing!) first. What's it going to be about? What if it takes an unexpected twist or turn? Is there an ongoing theme that you wove in without noticing it? Stuff like that :P

Damn, woman, this is amazing! Despite all the death and tragedy permeating the entire story (so far), it doesn't feel sad at all. Rather, it's poignant, hopeful and uplifting, with Sesshoumaru learning to open his heart and Kagome slowly getting over her tragedy.
Your portrayal of Kagome is very different from all the others I've read - and that's good. If Inuyasha really had died (!) I think this would exactly how she would have become.
Gyaaah... I'm rambling. Congrats on drawing me out of lurking :D

Once again, I amaze myself at my ability to write what I think is in-character, but what is not anywhere near the 'fanon' acceptance level of characterization. I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or bang my head against the desk.
I'm glad you're enjoying this little series, though, even if it is a complete anomaly :)
Congratulations!

And what do the gaps between prompts mean?
no subject
No - right now (and until its finished) this fic is exclusively hosted at my LJ comm.
And what do the gaps between prompts mean?
I'm writing it out of order, and I haven't yet filled in the gaps. If there's a gap between two installments, that means I intend to fill it in somewhere down the line. For instance, the entire story arc encompassed from "Shield" to "Halo" is complete, and can be read straight through with (hopefully) no confusion, but eventually there will be another set of installments between, say, "Appearance" and "Vengeance." Does that make sense?

It does. I really should put mine in some type of order, and be a copy kitteh! lol

*shrug* Well, it'll be a long wait - this will probably be the last of my WIPs I'll finish simply because the universe is so expansive.
