Fandom History & Inspiration Meme - Day 4

Day 4 – Do you have a "muse" character, that speaks to you more than others, or that tries to push their way in, even when the fic isn't about them? Who are they, and why did that character became your muse?
I often speak of "my muses" when I discuss my fic or ideas, but I don't really have a muse, per se. There's no one living in my head, whispering ideas in my ear or anything like that. Really, it's just sort of shorthand for my ideas process in and of itself. I have questions and thoughts and wonders when I view my canon source material, or I pick up on some subtext that I want to explore, or a character jumps out at me and begs for resolution (like Susan Felder in my latest piece). I see my stories playing like a movie in my mind; the more times I "view" the scene, the clearer it becomes, and the more I recognize where it's going. Most of my ideas start as a choppy mismatch of scenes cutting in on each other with no real coherent, overarching storyline. They become more refined, the more attention I pay to them, and eventually I can see the scene very clearly, and usually hear the words - dialog, conversation, or inner monologue. When I have the words, that's when I'm ready to write.
I suppose the closest character from one of my fandoms I've ever had as a muse is Sesshoumaru. I just love devoting endless amounts of brainspace to his character, his background, his motivations, etc. It's fun to take him apart and put him back together, like a child exploring a new toy :) He's notoriously temperamental, however, working when he wants to work and never anytime else :P He's never really pushed his way into stories that weren't about him (goodness knows I've devoted plenty of those half a million words to him over the years, LOL), but during the height of my exclusive time in IY, he was pretty much the only character I was actively working around.
