Day 12 – Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?
Yes, I have. I adapted the plot of Instant Star season one into an AU story with the IY characters. It was hard, and I eventually discontinued it, because I didn't like the format I'd written myself into - an episode a chapter, which made for incredibly long chapters. I also didn't feel quite "right" about it, like it wasn't a 'real' story because I already knew the ending, if that makes any sense. I don't, in general, like adaptation fics where it's too obvious what the original source material was (a certain plot or a certain characterization). Adaptations can be clever and fun and engaging, but I'm not the person to write them, LOL. I'd probably never do it again.
