luxken27: (MMPR Daleks)
Day 23 – When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

I post everything in four places these days:

FF.net: Call me crazy, but I like FF.net. (When it's working, that is :P) This is probably colored by the fact that the 'new' fandoms I get into tend to be for tiny, obscure, and/or old media. FF.net is still the biggest fanfiction archive on the internet, so chances are if people are interested in reading fic, that's where they're going to start. FF.net means eyeballs on your work, and a fairly reliable way to receive reviews. I don't think it's a Pit of Voles, but maybe that's because I tend to hang around the small, quiet corners :) This isn't to say everything FF.net does is a-okay in my book - the user-end redesign was dumb and unnecessary *eyeroll* - but there's enough control and its intuitive that I'm not going anywhere else anytime soon.

The only thing I don't post to FF.net is explicit material.

LJ: I've posted most of my work at my fic community, [livejournal.com profile] luxken27_fics. It's probably the most organized and easiest to search archive of my work on the web. The stories I haven't posted here are Stacy in Bloom (which is so long that it'd be a nightmare to code properly) and the fills I'm writing for my [livejournal.com profile] babysitters100 table. Those are posted to the comm instead, and it seems a bit redundant to me to post them again when I can just as easily link to that comm in my author's notes posts instead *shrug* I like posting to LJ (again, when it works) because I can control pretty much everything - the look, the order of the posts, the tagging system, etc. I can also control access, but mostly this is just to stay in accordance with the LJ TOS instead of creating an exclusive club :P Anyone can join my comm, provided they told LJ they were at least 18 when they signed up.

There are also a couple of exclusives posts to [livejournal.com profile] luxken27_fics ~ Allegiance, my post-canon non-linear meandering S/K series, and the remnants of Nihon Idol.

Dreamwidth: This is basically sort of a backup archive of my non-IY works. I'm not as enamoured of DW as some other fen are, but I have one and I poke around. If anything ever happens to LJ, at least I'll have some familiarity with the service most likely to take its place :P

AO3: I am not all that enthusiastic about AO3, but I'm trying to get more comfortable using it. When I first joined, it was pretty much impossible to post a multichapter story and I ended up deleting my stuff out of sheer frustration. This has colored my view of the archive, though I have started using it again. I don't like the look and I absolutely ABHOR the tagging system, but otherwise, it seems the kinks are getting worked out of the system. There aren't a lot of eyes over there, and even fewer people willing to leave comments, but when they do, it does have a very nice LJ-like feedback system.

I've also posted my Inuyasha works to Media Miner and deviantART, but as I move beyond the anime/manga world, my posting at these archives has declined as well.
