I've not come across any accusations of being homophobic because I don't write slash (good thing this fandom isn't more slashtastic, I say), but I've seen it on the various rant and secret comms.

I got it in a fandom based on a musical. From morons who didn't realize that gay actor does not equal gay character and that each performance of each production (and there have been many vastly different productions since the first one opened in '81) is going to be slightly different. It makes it a fun and challenging fandom to write for, but apparently not writing about gay cats - and they just have to pick the one cat it would be most ooc for to be the "top" in the one true slash pairing, too - makes me a homophobe. Then again this is also the fandom that thinks that two characters dancing next to each other makes a pairing.

...and then you get into the people who slash real people, which just makes me o.O and back away slowly.

RPF and RPS scare me... I stay far, far away whenever possible.

I don't like to get involved in wank if I can help it

Agreed. So very much agreed. I wish more people would take that approach, or at least make use of a little logic and respect. Someone else liking a pairing that you don't like (or not liking the one that you do) is not an insult. I wish people would stop taking it like one.

I suppose I should count myself lucky that in IY fandom I seem to get more comments saying "I hate this pairing, but your fic is actually good, so yay" than anything else, in terms of pairing-related comments and reviews. I'm sure they mean it as a compliment but if I get another one like that I swear I'm going to lose it. XD
