Inu/Kag manga special (+ link to colored Ch 558)

The news is making the rounds, but I will post it here for posterity, if nothing else :)

Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] inuyashaxkagome, who grabbed it from Freelance Manga:

It takes some pretty big news for me to come out of hiding and certainly warrants it.

No, this isn’t about the elusive "Black Tessaiga" which is still yet to have been scheduled a DVD release or even been camripped, this news revolves around something far more tangible.

The other day, I was elated to learn of the upcoming release of a new manga(?) volume titled "Inuyasha Special Edition Compilation: Inuyasha and Kagome" (Inuyasha Tokubetsu Henshuuban Inuyasha to Kagome 犬夜叉 特別編集版 犬夜叉とかごめ) that will be released on February 18th along with volume 56. It will cost 900 yen and the contents are still a mystery.

The running assumption (read as: unfounded fangirl desire) at the moment is that this release might serve as a more well-defined epilogue for the series that elaborates on what chapter 558 left us with. What is more likely though is that this publication will be like previous special releases, a compilation label of chapter sinvolving the title. In this case, it’ll be Kagome and Inuyasha.

I will update this site as new information surfaces. Also, I am currently unsure if I will be able to scanlate this. I would certainly like to though.

So, will we finally get that fabled kiss? :D

Even if its just a manga special collection (as have been released before), that will be a wonderful resource! Plus those collections tend to be twice as long as a regular volume of the manga...:D

Suddenly I was all nostalgic for the manga again, and with a modicum of searching, I came across this link, which leads to a download of a color version of Chapter 558 (in Chinese). Apparently this was the collaboration of a few people from a message board, and it's absolutely wonderful!! Definitely a must for those of us who can't color manga for shit, LOL :)

Hahaha, yessss that would be why, most likely.
*pouts* I bet it'll be a compilation, too. I'm still making my friend who's in Japan pick a copy up for me... she got me a copy of the first book, too, so I can have the first and last.
I may only be able to read bits and pieces but I'll still know what's going on!

*salivates* Is it mean for me to say I'd willingly give my husband's left nut for a continuation of the anime?

LOL, My response to this news is "Oh, great. I can hear the bawwing already."

I'd die happy to see a Rumiko-penned Inuyasha/Kagome smooch.

And thanks for the download link--the images are beautiful.

I know. Almost a lack of closure. Pretty much all the ends were tied up, but still no kiss. *sigh*

One of the things that I hate about shipping Sess/Kag is how much Inuyasha bashing there is. It's such a stock plot device I wonder if some deluded fangirls think it's actually canon. I guess I'm in the minority of people who write Sess/Kag, but I think Inuyasha and Kagome are perfect for each other--and I really was disappointed to be denied The Kiss!

Don't let the It's Not Canon legions get to you. I know some people are unable to wrap their heads around certain pairings, and that's fine, but it still mystifies me why they need to flame because of it.

My chapter stories are Sess/Kag, but I've got a bunch of drabbles and one-shots with different pairings. It's always interesting to experiment.

lol--A badge of honor! You've been marked as heretic by the canon police.

And starks ganked it from the adinuyasha list. The only reason I haven't had a post on it is that I haven't seen it anywhere else - at least in English and I can't read Japanese.

I was hoping the blog from Japan might be updated, but it doesn't look like he's had anything since the announcement of the final releases of the manga volumes last summer.

Yeah, I think it was sent through to the list when I was on vacation over Christmas. I remember reading it and Starks' post is copied and pasted from that post (though he added the section in paranthesis about the fangirling). I'd thought about posting the info when I got back home, and hoped there would be more info by then. But since there wasn't I forgot about it.

There's been speculation about Black Tessaiga being released ever since it was announced it would be shown at the Rumic World show, but it was announced that there would be at least two other showings of the exhibit in Japan, so it is most likely that any DVD releases would be held until after all of that was over. There were also new shorts for Ranma 1/2 and I think one other, so it's likely all three would be released on the same DVD. There's also speculation that the InuYasha short is to help garner the reaction and to see if there would be interest in continueing the anime. In any case, it's all speculation at this point as far as the shorts go.

The cast of InuYasha has remained remarkedly well in touch with each other, and the producer of the series when asked at a con last year about the possible continuation of the series, said that it would be continued and he even hoped they could pick up the time slot it was originally aired in. He said that it had never been completed, but just put on hold until the manga was over or near the end. He seemed very optomistic about it.

Yeah, someone on the adinuyasha list (it might have been Urd-chan) sent the post with the announcement that it was going to travel to two more cities - it seems that she may have even had a copy of the page scanned and posted to the website. Her daughter can read Japanese and had the translation of the page at her LiveJournal. They still get the Shounen Sunday every week from teh Japanese market because they follow several other series as well, and Kojika does translations and scanlations for at least one if not two of them. Anyway, I think the announcement was in Shounen Sunday, but I'm not going to swear to it since I've slept since then. But we all thought it was a good sign as well that it was going to go on to other cities.

We've all been surprised that not even a camvideo of the short has appeared on YouTube. the introductory video that is shown as you entered the exhibit went up the same day the exhibit opened over there - but we've never seen the short. It did sound like it had been altered from the manga - especially in adding Kagome sitting him at least once if not twice before it was over. But then considering the number of changes they made to the manga (or left out) and the number of sits that were added, it was no surprise. Apparently the Japanese find it very humorous.

We'll have to keep our fingers crossed. We've been hoping for some announcement this year that the anime will be continued. Even if they didn't do the productions for television, it'd be great if they do OVAs to finish out the series. I know a lot of people want to see the episodes where Kagura and Kikyou died animated, and that kiss we didn't get at the end added, among others. I'd just like to see them finish it out, and hopefully try not to divert too much from the manga in the process. I understood the need for fillers when they were trying to let the manga move ahead before they caught up with it again, but since it's over, there shouldn't be a need for so many.
