I've been a member of this community for about as long as I've been on LJ but have never found a prompt that inspired me...I have no idea why, there's nothing wrong with their prompts, but there you go. So, in addition to being pleased with how this piece came out, I was also pleased to finally be able to post to that comm :)
I actually had a lot of fun writing this, a rarity for me considering how much I struggle with writing the sensual/citrusy/lemony stuff. LOL - I can just imagine some of you writers out there now, shaking your heads at my hesitations, considering my stuff is probably tame, at best. But, well, when you see the way most people write the smexxorz (and how popular it seems to be all over fandom, no matter what the quality), the way they are subsequently reamed out for it at rant and/or sporking communities, and knowing that you don't want to come off like romance-novel-lite, it can make you hesitant to attempt something you aren't confident with. Me? I like emotions, reactions, behaviors, getting into a character's head and tinkering around, trying to figure them out. Quite frankly, I find reading about sex rather boring, especially if the author relishes cold and clinical detail. Unless you're especially creative/inventive, we all know the mechanics, yes? Now howsabout devoting a little more of your wordspace to how your characters are reacting to this very intense act?
So, anyway, yes. Something abouthikari_hime_73's story touched off a smutty/fluffy muse, who was awakened before to complete doggieearlover's drabble request fic, and now that I've given it just a modicum of attention it suddenly wants to insert itself everywhere, even in fics that aren't ready for intimacy (*eyes Nihon Idol forcefully, but relents that the interactions between Inu/Kag will probably be heightened in the next chapter*). So I'm trying to head off some of that by looking for every possibly conceivable smutty angle for contest prompts, LOL!!
It's a good muscle to work anyway, and I'm never one to put down practicing to get better :)
This piece is a tiny bit of AU fluff between Sesshoumaru & Kagome, as he wakes her up after an evening of...well, you can decide for yourself, heh. This is one of the rare fics that I don't have ten tons of backstory to elaborate on; this scene just came so very clearly to my mind and I had to describe it. It was originally 300 words or so, but the word limit is 250 for drabbles (and I only managed to cut half that, ending up at 267 - sorry guys!). I might attempt to re-expand this piece into something fuller, though I rather like the way it stands now. Not so happy with the closing line, but well, what would any of us say if we found ourselves in a similar situation, LOL?
