That's very interesting, seeing as how I did the drabble-length piece first and then expanded on it. In some ways, this is two different series - one of drabbles, and one of longer oneshots - and the considerations when writing one or the other are becoming more divergent. With the longer pieces I'm able to add as much as I want, and have an easier time incorporating the 'side' storyline, whereas in the original drabbles it's very much about what's happening in the moment. So, each set has its own challenges.
I rather like the shorter version of this one myself, as it reflects the title with a better balance between the two characters. However, with this longer version, I have another piece of the puzzle - namely, that last line, which decided to attach itself out of nowhere, LOL.
So - its win-win for me, and hopefully will continue to be. I've never allowed myself to write a story out of order before, so let's just say this has been a learning experience as much as anything else :)
