Pairing: Sesshoumaru/Kagome
Rating: T
Inspiration: “Everyday Love 4 – #2, ‘Downpour’” © 2008 Youkai Yume
Based upon: [livejournal.com profile] dokuga_contest Drabble #27 | Spare (3rd Place)

Ah, the fic muses nibbling off fanart...just where they want to be!

I was really excited to see the prompt go up at [livejournal.com profile] ebony_silks this week. [livejournal.com profile] quirkysmuse decided to do an "image challenge", where she posted a piece of fanart for us to write from. Lucky for me, she chose one of Youkai Yume's "Everyday Love" pieces, which consist of six doodles of Sess/Kag in various fluffy/lovey situations.

This also tapped an inspiration for the [livejournal.com profile] dokuga_contest theme, which was "spare." Once I saw the fanart, I couldn't get the second picture out of my mind, and it seemed like a good one to write a very short piece from. Hence, this story was born.

I can't say I'm completely happy with it, but it somehow managed to place in the drabble contest. I don't like the abrupt turn I had to take with the last paragraph, as I feel its a little too OOC for Sesshoumaru to be so...eager? Willing? Eh, I'm not sure, but I was definitely constrained by the word limit. The other winning fics are heads and tails above this one, for sure.

In case you're wondering, I *have* submitted a fic for the [livejournal.com profile] ebony_silks contest, inspired by the fourth picture, "Pillow Fort" - LOL, it was a chance to indulge my fluffy smutty muse again. The reason I haven't posted notes for it yet is because its locked at the comm, and I don't like to post links until they are available for general perusal. But said notes will be forthcoming, because I had a ton of fun writing that fic! ;)

Congrats on your placement. I think you did a good job of translating Youkaiyume's drawings into a really nice fluff. Priestess Skye did a good job of linking all of pictures into one serial recently.I liked it so well I nominated it at IYFG and it won 3rd place in Romance:Other. I think the pictures really lend themselves to good fluff.

This was great. Sess the hero and Sess the hentai all rolled in one! LOL! What woman doesn't like to be rescued by her knight in shining armor or at least with a running car and motor club!

I have faith in you. You do Sess/Kags really believable. There are some who just slap a story together and call it a story when it's just crap. You'll do fine.

Exercise is a good thing. I believe that's what happened with the Bite prompt. I was trying to convey all that urgency and passion without resorting to the usual smutfest. That was HARD! You are much better at the subtle of love, I tend to be a sledgehammer. (I can really write smut! LOL)

Trying to get my practice in. Drabbles help me refocus on the WIPs. If I don't watch it, I'll get wordy and have out of control chapters. Plus the prompts sometime grab me!

I may need you to teleport your smut-writing abilities to me in about 18 chapters, LOL :P
Feel free! LOL I'm trying to tone them down. I feel the need to write some really romantical love stuff, so I'm trying to get some practice in.

That is what is so wonderful about a serial. Each story can be read by itself
Skye's stories show a growing relationship through the use of the Everyday Love panels. The stories use Everyday Love as a prompt just as we use our verbal prompts. Aren't serials wonderful? That is what I love about KK's post manga stories. While her fluff all stands alone it is all tied together by occurring at certain points in time. Britedark tells me that she is going to put all of he stories which grow out of Battle in the Snow after reading the discussion about serials. Your discussion had some good effect.

When I read them they seemed to flow from story to the next. They started with meetings, then dates. At the end they are living together. Obviously they are more connected than her summary suggests. SK change from the awkwardness of dating to people who are totally comfortable living together.
