Well - at least I made it on time for the contest deadline this week! =)

We're getting closer and closer to the climax of the story (and, what I have a feeling will be only the initial climax...goddamnit, why do lemons suddenly demand backstories?!). In this piece, Sango's illusions are beginning to shatter, and at the worst possible time, over the worst possible thing - her brother's disappearance. I can't imagine much worse than finding out you are being lied to and/or patronized to about the cause that has completely driven your life for the last few years. A few people at the community asked if it was wrong that they wanted Sango to just haul off and punch Karanouskue, to which I said no =) LOL, I have a feeling if she'd had all her wits about her, she would've done just that. She's one tough cookie, after all.

But, just like at the beginning of the canon story, Kohaku and his known whereabouts are her weakness, the one thing that can bring her to her knees in an instant. For all her resolve and determination, I've always sensed that she felt very guilty and insecure about her failure to protect him. I've tried to recreate those same feelings within a modern-day setting with a plausible justification. My mainlining of police procedurals in the last couple of weeks (especially Law & Order: Criminal Intent) is reflected in the sudden change of pace for the story, switching to a more "just the facts, please" urgency that is necessary to set off the next chain of events.

The title of this piece came from combining the titles of two old Incubus songs. Ah, Incubus ~ they have been the soundtrack for my angsties lately, for this and other projects in the works. Probably the hardest part about writing drabbles & oneshots for this serial is coming up with the titles and summary quotes ~ all I can say is, I'm glad this isn't my usual MO, LOL!!

The next prompt at [livejournal.com profile] mirsan_fics is absolutely perfect, but the word limit is going to be very tough. I anticipated getting the chance to write a drabble, and this next chapter will be very short, but I dunno if it will be 100 words worth of short. We'll see what happens. But the revelation of Kohaku's whereabouts is absolutely imminent, as is the long-rumored lemonfic chapter, based on the overall inspiration song.

I'm rather amused that this muse, of all of them, has come back so strongly, but I'm taking what I can get, LOL. I'm also running quite well with the current story arc in Allegiance, and hope to formulate the next long piece for Fleeting and have it ready to publish next week ~ so, keep your eyes peeled if you enjoy any of these fics!
