OneManga suspends Inuyasha manga

???

Anybody have any idea why OneManga has suspended the IY manga scans from their website? Or when it happened, for that matter?

adinuyasha has scans from chapter 449 on, but the other sites I checked are also suspiciously lacking of this title. Hmm...this does not bode well for bannering purposes.

ETA: I guess I hit them up right when they yanked everything, because now they do have a message in place (whereas before, there was only an error page):

Viz asked the major online manga sites to pull it.

I figured if anyone know it would be you, kk. Do you know why?

Probably because they've speeded up their production of volume releases (and are up to volume 45) and want people to buy it, rather than read it online now that they are getting so close to the end. And they are giving free access to the subbed version of the Final Act, so no doubt they feel they are taking care of the fan base.

It's not quite the same, but they do own the rights to InuYasha and let us have access to it for a long, long time. Most American publishing houses would have been slapping cease and desist orders a long time ago.

That seems reasonable enough. I guess I can't complain too much, given they have done what they say, and have been so generous.

Notice: Because Viz has requested that we remove Inuyasha from our site, all chapters have been removed until further notice. We're trying to see if we can put it back up, but for now no Inuyasha

That's what it says here.

If you don't mind downloading whole volumes for everything before 449, check out http://www.freelance-manga.com. They have the entire manga series available there: volumes 1-46 downloadable altogether, and everything after 449 available online.

Freelance actually has much, much better quality scans than adinuyasha, and also started when EarTweak stopped scanlating. Starks really did an amazing job cleaning the panels. The only downside is that most of the online stuff is on Photobucket, so navigation isn't as easy.

And because I forgot, the difference: adinuyasha and freelance.

That notice wasn't up when I checked the site about an hour ago. I must've caught them when they yanked it.
Really? I'm pretty sure it's been up since at least yesterday, when I came across this altogether lame revelation myself.

Anyway, Here's the link to volumes 1-46: http://freelance-manga.com/community-archives/

And here's the link to where you can get 456 onwards: http://freelance-manga.com/releases-wip/

LOL really - or else I wouldn't have been stupid enough to ask my LJ f-list, if I could've found/confirmed the answer myself
*facepalm* Gotcha. LOL @ me saying silly things. XD

Thanks for the links to Freelance
No problem! It's a fantastic resource site, so I'm all for spreading the love and free manga. And no worries about the banners. I doubt anyone's going to complain when we're so fortunate to have you to make them in the first place. :)

Haha, Freelance was the first place I went upon getting back into fandom and deciding I was going to reread the series. They're not all-inclusive, but they're still pretty IY focused, especially now that the anime's ongoing again.

I know all about the Freelance vs adinuyasha wank wars
And...there was Freelance vs. adinuyasha wank? HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS? *wants the dirt*

LOL. Color me grateful yet again that I've pretty much managed to stay away from the wanktastic elements of fandom thus far.

And man. Basically, fights over silly stuff. (Then again, when is wank not over silly stuff? =P) The competition over who could get it out faster I kind of saw, but that's a usual thing between scanlators. But, heh. Amusing nevertheless.

*sigh* It still sucks because I don't think I have enough space to download it all. And I bought and own the manga, but it's just so much easier to look up specific sections online when I'm writing.

Posting them has always been in violation of the copyright laws. YTV regularly pulls down IY videos from YouTube. Fanfiction has always been a gray area since we are using copyrighted property without permission or compensation. I assume it is because we are not worth the time or expense. Those who ask that their works not be used for fanfiction are not allowed on ffnet. I have always wondered about the artists since they are actually selling copyrighted characters on their sites.

It's been within the last couple of days. I was looking something up on it either Sunday or Monday, and then last night it was gone with the notice about VIZ.

I think VIZ is making a mistake. I bought the manga because I could read it first on line. I'd have never bought it blind. Not only that, I've never even unwrapped a bunch of my volumes because I can't stand the flipped pages. I'm used to reading right to left when it comes to manga now.

[identity profile] royaleblue02.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
lux, I've got the entire series downloaded (vol 1-56). If you would like them, let me know. I'll gladly get them to you.

:D Anytime! I love your work. I need to do my part to keep it going! Hehe

Just to throw in my two cents, this website has free downloads of the entire Inuyasha manga plus any other manga you care to think of ^^ Other media such as music, wallpaper, e-books and comics are also available for free.

www.thespectrum.net also has Inuyasha manga scans.

[identity profile] tnew78.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a lot of the manga pages copied into files (mainly the Sesshoumaru parts). If you're aching for a scene for a banner, let me know and I might I have it my extensive Sesshoumaru archive.

[identity profile] tnew78.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Hum...I might have some Mir/San, too, in my smaller "other Inuyasha characters" file--which includes poor Inuyasha himself. lol

Let me look and I'll get back to you...

They also suspended Urusei Yatsura, RT's first manga series at VIZ's request.
