Inuyasha: The Final Act | 24 - Naraku's Uncertain Wish
Oh come on.
Seriously. There go my hopes for an extended ending to the anime! *facepalm*
For all this episode's positives - of which there were many - I am singularly disappointed by the fact that it does not contain Naraku's death scene. With the suddenly glacial pace they've been taking things since the final battle started, I'm left to wonder if Chapter 558 will be animated at all, because there's still quite a bit of story to be told before the "epilogue." I seriously think the last episode, this one, and the next one could've been condensed into two, if all the freaking repetitive showing had been sliced away. Its like the worst of the fanfic - authors indulging the need to show the action from every character's point of view, when one or two would've sufficed. Bleh.
That said, there's a bit to commend on this episode. Loved the effects once again - especially the meidou blades. Sesshoumaru's sweeps of Bakusaiga were also impressive, with the blend of art, movement, and sound. (I should mention I also thought it was an "up" episode for the character designs as well ~ it passed both my Miroku and Sesshoumaru sight tests, LOL.) And, of course, it was chock full of Mir/San angst, which I'll never turn my nose up at. Ugh, the "despair" scene was almost as beautiful as it was depicted by righteousred six years ago. Their love and despair were palpable, soaring right off the screen to me. I'm glad they finally found the resolve to fight instead of resigning themselves to dying. It's about time! :P
I don't remember the Jinenji anitdote that Shippo was carrying from the manga - was it there? Either way, it was a nice hat-tip to a rather beloved minor character, so kudos on that :) Once more, Jaken served no purpose whatsoever, though I did laugh at the comic relief he provided when he finally found his lord and master. Those huge black eyes will never not be funny :P
Once again there was way too much (heavy-handed) foreshadowing for my tastes, what with Naraku musing that it will be "a battle of the souls" in the end. Can we telegraph any clearer what's coming next? Perhaps only if the characters mimed it out as well as thinking about it so copiously. Loved the scenes of all of them in action at once, fighting against a common cause, but I'd hardly call them all a band of friends.
*sigh* Whatever.
Preview for the next episode: Naraku dies (finally), Kagome dreams, and Inuyasha despairs...

The Jinenji antidote wasn't in the manga - definitely an anime only-feature. Probably added so Shippou could have more screentime? That'd be my guess.
And I kind of giggled when Naraku called them all friends - Sesshoumaru included. I doubt he'd agree. There are principles to be upheld, after all!
The angst was glorious. This is not helping me control my desire to screencap everything, at all. *sigh*

At this rate, I'm seriously doubting 558 will be animated. Seriously. There's so much going on in the "epilogue" that they aren't going to have time for unless they speed through the rest of the battle in the next episode, which I'm not seeing them doing anytime soon.

I didn't think so, but its been a long while since I read the final chapters of the manga, LOL. I've been wrong about so much else here lately that I didn't want to be spouting off more ignorance and not even realizing it o.O

This is not an urge you should be attempting to reign inI mean what?no subject
Really? Based on the preview for the next episode, I think there will be plenty of time. I think they'll be covering Naraku's death, his final wish on the jewel, Kagome being sucked into the meidou and the illusion she sees and breaks free of, the Kazaana disappearing, and Inuyasha going after Kagome. That leaves the confrontation with the Shikon no Tama, the three year gap, and the epilogue for episode 26.
I think we'll be fine, but I doubt they'll expand on it much.
This is not an urge you should be attempting to reign inI mean what?LOL. Well, no matter how hard I try, some urges are just impossible to contain. Screencapping would be one of those. ;)

And guess what's going to get the short shrift!
*sigh* Don't mind me; I'm just being petulant. It seems to be a constant state of mind these days.

And we fangirls will be eternally grateful for it =)

From the previews they will get all the way through Darkness where Kagome faces the Jewel for three days. That would leave about 3 chapters to deal with in the finale. I would like them to expand Tomorrow so that we see more of what happens to our heroes. It is hard to believe that it will all be over in two weeks.

And since the final chapter is a double? Yeah. Not really seeing it paid very much justice, unfortunately. Which is sad, because that's where the anime really needed to step in and fill in some of the gaps RT left hanging wide open.

This is true...
