Why yes, I am using one of the main characters as a fangirl-within-the-story! However did you guess? :D

This is the final chapter of setup (whew), but its an important one. The rest of the ensemble is fleshed out in a little more detail, which will help make the rest of the story a bit stronger, as they all have parts to play, no matter how small. This is also my ultra-lame attempt at in-canon humor but alas, it appears my inability to be funny knows no bounds. Oh, well :P

References

[+] The title is one of the covers performed by the band in this season (from episode #10, "When the Clock Strikes Twelve"). It's also a pretty good example of the jackets described in this chapter. This was definitely my favorite performance outfit of the season; the others were just - uh, unfortunate o.O

The song was originally by the Beatles, but was covered in 1988 by Tiffany, hence the change in lyrics.

[+] My "arbitrary ages" of the characters are as follows:
Ryan - 17 (12th grade)
Stacy - 14 (9th grade)
Richie - 13 (8th grade)
Devyn - 12 (7th grade)
Kenny - 12 (7th grade)
Connie - 11 (6th grade)

[+] Yes I did sneak in a Sweet Valley High reference, LOL. Check out great, snarky recaps of the original series here.

[+] Stacy's cover of "Tell It to My Heart" is one of my favorites of the season. I like it better than the original, even! For the most part, the choreography is intact, although she didn't really have a chance to interact much with Ryan on this number on the show...

From episode #12, "Richie in Love."

[+] Richie's brilliant ideas are something of a running gag, because of how badly he almost blew it in the Season 4 episode "Win a Date with Renee." This is one of my favorite episodes from 1987, because its a great use of all the characters in a humorous setting (and I liked 4 of the 5 songs, which is a better ratio than for some of the other episodes, LOL).

[+] Rocky Rahsaan Ripple was the name the kids decided on for Riley's new ice cream flavor in the last episode of the 4th season, "What's in a Name" - when the Kid's name is revealed for the first time. A very touching episode, and I knew I had to figure out some way to work it into this story :P
