I know people are upset that Sango is too angsty when she is not hitting Miroku, but she has just lost her entire village and her little brother who killed her father is working for the monster who killed them. She just wants to die. Miroku has that calm exterior, but he has known the way he would die since he watched his father die. Only killing Naraku can prevent it.
