Meta meme: 30 Days of Shipping
Day 13 - What is your favorite television pairing?
The answer will probably surprise no one, but this was a surprisingly hard choice to make, truth be told:

Ryan/Stacy, Kids Inc - I tend to enjoy all of my pairings pretty equally across all media, so what it came down to for this was, which ones have inspired me to go above and beyond, and to create fanwork? After all, I'm a fairly easy shipper to please: I buy into canon a lot. So it takes something extra special to push me beyond that...and considering the only live-action pairing I'm writing extensively for (right now) is these two? They win, LOL.
My fangirl squee inspiration is this ~

Aww, thanks! <3 I'm always happy to share the fangirlish squee, hehe. Just because its twenty years old doesn't make it any less fun!!
I am also starting to realize that I am not a shipper. o_O

The only fanfic I've written for TV shows have been my KI and GH works, and considering I've devoted approximately 5x as many words to the former than the latter? Suddenly, a choice was easily made.
These two were my first OTP, after all - and I hold on hard to first loves :)

*nods* This. When you start really studying them is when you realize, "Oh, *this* is why I love them so much." Which gives you a whole new insight. In my experience, anyway. :)
I hold on hard to first loves
And for a reason! There's not much like returning to them!

Yup! This is what's fun, to me, digging deeper and figuring out what it is about a character or pairing that just really resonates with you. My HS biology teacher made a remark that has lasted with me for a long time (obviously, LOL) ~ we have "chemistry" with the things we like: people, music, food, etc. Most people think of chemistry as love or sexual interest, but it goes beyond that, and I find that fascinating. What makes people friends? What is it about your favorite food? What is it about celebrities or athletes or whatever, these people we know we'll never meet, that still draws us to them?
And for a reason! There's not much like returning to them!
They are a sort of comfort zone, aren't they? Even if nobody else really shares the love, LOL.

Agreed. I always wonder about that. When I met my best friend, I knew within about 30 seconds that we were going to be awesome friends. We couldn't be more different on paper, but it was instant on both of our parts. On the other hand, it took years of knowing my husband to think about dating him. It's difficult to know why there would be a difference in why and how I became close to each of them. Same goes for pairings though - some of them, there's an instant attraction, and some, it takes me awhile. What's the difference? *shrugs*

Oh, they did - there's evidence aplenty of that. (All their shows had fan clubs, for example.) And they reran this show for years even after its original run ended, so there was some major love for it. BUT, I think what's different about it, besides the fact that there wasn't a "tween" market back in the day, is the fact that this was not a show they originally developed, and thus, they didn't have creative control of it. When they did take it over, it sucked royally and eventually tanked :P So thank goodness for small favors, I suppose!
