Meta meme: 30 Days of Shipping

I love the way my mind works out sometimes. I had a real barnstormer of an idea for Stacy in Bloom, one that came almost as soon as I was fully coherent this morning, and I spent all morning outlining it in feverish detail.

The problem?

The events my muse is so taken with won't happen for at least five chapters *facepalm*

Luckily, it was in a happy place, though, because I also got a significant amount of pre-writing done on the chapter I am presently working on (a rough outline, bits of dialogue, the flow from one scene to the next). Hopefully things will continue clicking away upstairs as the week progresses :)

Day 25 - A pairing that was/would-be adorable, but could never work out?

Jessica Fletcher/Dr Seth Hazlitt, Murder, She Wrote ~ Okay, so technically this isn't a ship I carried a torch for when the show was running, nor when I got really into it a few years ago, but it certainly fits the "adorable" bill. Jessica Fletcher is, of course, the main character in this long-running series, a retired school teacher who writes mysteries for a living now, and always seems to find a murder or two to solve around her quiet Maine village of Cabot Cove. (She also goes on whirlwind world tours in support of her work [or in protest of it, whatever the case may be :P] so Cabot Cove doesn't have a crime problem just because the show lasted for 14 years, LOL.)

As far as main characters go, Jessica is pretty awesome. She never wants the role of detective, but is kinda shoved into it by the circumstances of the episode. She makes lots of good friends and writes lots of intriguing novels, so what's not to love? :) Her family is a trip, too, especially her erstwhile nephew Grady, who sent her first manuscript off without telling her and had it published.

Dr Seth Hazlitt is the hamlet's doctor, and a fine old curmudgeonly sort. He and Jess are best friends, but it's kinda obvious he feels far more for her than that ~ but he also respects that she had One True Love in her life, her dearly departed husband Frank, and keeps his distance. Their interactions are absolutely wonderful, though, and sometimes they act like an old married couple, so yeah. It'd never work, but its present incarnation does just fine, LOL.

Awwww! I practically grew up on this show. <3 My parents and I always joked about Cabot Cove - "Highest murder rate in the nation! Worse than Camden, New Jersey!"

I always adored these two characters. Older people that actually did stuff aside from go to church and cook? It was rather shocking, lol.

Cabot Cove kinda makes me want to try living that far north, LOL.

:P While often prettier up there, the snow can be really suffocating after the first storm. I miss the *summers* up there, because I actually didn't need A/C. Winters though? Blah. They just get so gray and depressing.

Yeah, I get that. Although I hate the summers here too, lol. I'm just going to have to find a place where it's 75 degrees, all year around, to retire to. :P

They had to move the show to NYC because they were running out of people to murder. When Amos Tupper was the sheriff, you had a triangle here. They did a good job of transporting Agatha Christie's Miss Marple to the USA. Angela Lansbury did a wonderful job on the character
