Fandom History & Inspiration Meme - Day 30

Day 30 – Do you have a favorite fic you've written? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!

I like all of the stories that I've shared, or else I wouldn't share them! (Believe me, there is plenty that's been left on the cutting room floor o.O) But I'd be remiss to not admit that I love some of my stories more than others :)

All of these stories are complete - It hardly seems fair to throw up WIPs to which only I know the ending, hehe :)

Inuyasha (IY)
Favorite Mulitchapter: Memento Mori (2008) - This story means a lot to me. It was a 'first' for many reasons - first series, first [posted] lemon, first award-winner. This is the story that put me on the map in IY fandom. And dammit, I just like the story, the way I weaved in canon, the way I wrote the characters, the serialized format of basically four oneshots that could stand on their own and yet, still contribute to a larger frame story. This is the only time I've ever felt like I really understood the character of Inuyasha. I don't know that I've ever written him better (for what that's worth). When this story was compared on a rec list to BlackMamba07's work, I think I died a little and went to heaven ♥

Favorite Oneshot: "Perception," part of the Fleeting serial (2009) - Heh. Obviously, I fell in love with the serialized format back in the day ;) This is, hands down, my favorite ever of my Sesshoumaru-centric pieces. I just - I can't even explain how much I love this fic, other than to say it's an homage to my most favorite fictional character ever. Only on rare occasions does Sess ever actually speak to me, and this was one of them.

Kids Inc (KI)
Favorite Multichapter: Kiss Me (2011) - I love this story! It's basically hitting all the highlights of a long and satisfying relationship, one that starts as a childhood friendship and ends in an enduring, adult love. This is basically a love letter to my OTP, and I read it whenever I need a boost. I love these two SFM ♥

Favorite Oneshot: break/even (2010) - I think this story ranks right up there as one of my best. It's angsty and romantic and filled to the brim with musical inspiration, nearly ten thousand words of pure bliss :) I like my characterizations and the way I was able to explore not only Stacy's relationship with Ryan, but her friendship with the Kid, and the other, younger members of KI. It's the cast I wish the show had had after the magical season five, and it was an absolute pleasure to explore :)

Baby-sitters Club (BSC)
Favorite Oneshot: The Dangling Conversation (2011) - I am ridiculously proud of this story. I was quite intimidated by the fact that my starring roles would be filled by minor characters, but managed to keep my freaking out to myself, LOL :) It was a chance for me to try out a new story format - it's entirely in present tense (which is harder than it looks, at least for me), and each scene, drawn from canon, is tied together into the larger frame via letters. It was a lot of fun to write, and incredibly satisfying to finish. This is a story I don't mind pimping out to others, which says a lot since I generally loathe advertising my stuff beyond my own LJ.

General Hospital (GH)
Favorite Oneshot: Dueling Baby-sitters (2011) - I haven't written a lot of GH fic, but this is probably the one I like the most :) Maxie seems the most canon-like here, I think, and she really gets in some good barbs at Matt. Plus, it was nice to write some happy!Patrick/Robin fic, considering this was during the height of the crazy!stalker!Lisa fiasco *shudder* Of all my attempts at humorous writing, this is probably my favorite.

Previous....
Day 1 - How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?
Day 2 – Name the fandoms you've written in, and how much you've written in that fandom, and if you still write in it.
Day 3 - For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to write?
Day 4 – Do you have a "muse" character, that speaks to you more than others, or that tries to push their way in, even when the fic isn't about them? Who are they, and why did that character became your muse?
Day 5 – If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a fic, whether your "muse" or not, what did you do about it?
Day 6 – When you write, do you prefer writing male or female characters?
Day 7 – Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?
Day 8 – Do you write OCs? And if so, what do you do to make certain they're not Mary Sues, and if not, explain your thoughts on OCs.
Day 9 – Pairings – For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favorite pairings to write?
Day 10 – Pairings – Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't write, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?

Day 12 – Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?

Day 15 – Warnings – What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a fic?
Day 16 – Summaries – Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?
Day 17 – Titles – Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic? Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not?
Day 18 – Where do you get the most inspiration for your fics (aka "bunnies") from?
Day 19 – When you have bunnies, do you sit down and start writing right away, or do you write down the idea for further use?
Day 20 –Do you ever get bunnied from other people's stories or art in the same fandom?
Day 21 – Sequels – Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?
Day 22 – Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?
Day 23 – When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?
Day 24 – Betaing – How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?
Day 25 – Music – Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?
Day 26 – What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a fic?
Day 27 – Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?
Day 28 – Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether writing together, or having an artist work on a piece about your fic?
Day 29 – What is your current project or projects?

Just for the record, my personal fav of my short works is Petal In the Wind. Maybe cause it's kind of poetic. Of completed longer fics, first comes Future Legend, which is technically probably my most literary fic, and then comes After the End, both because of the care I put into writing it, and because, to date, it's the longest completed fic that I ever decided was done - just a novella, but I still am happy when I re-read it.

I notice that I seem to be doing this meme along side of you without doing this meme. LOL. I just realized that.

If I had had anything compared to the lamented missing BlackMamba, I would have been in Author's Heaven. Very cool praise!

Yay! A new list of things to-read! Although I do think I've read the Kids Inc ones, but I've been meaning to go through your IY ones again. :3

Memento Mori is one of my favorite IY stories.
