I'm sure this is a tired trope, and I'm not the first one to post an entry like this to the contest, but it was the flash of inspiration that hit me :) This came from a combination of things -- working with last week's prompt (and ideas), another idea that's floating around in my head (which I'm hoping to turn into a piece for another contest community), and this song. I know, I know: DMB is so cliche. But this song is so perfect, hitting the exact note of forbidden temptation I was hoping to convey.
The biggest problem I had with this piece? The word length. This week's contest had a word-limit of 250, and needless to say, that is the exact opposite of my normal writing style. I am verbose -- I admit that loudly and proudly. I love my lush descriptions, pointed dialogue, and angsty introspection more than anybody else, probably...so, trying to condense that down into 250 measly words was quite the challenge.
I do, however, like this idea a lot, and am contemplating turning it into a full-length oneshot. Perhaps hone my citrus writing skills a bit? On that note, let me just say that I hate putting a pairing label on this, because as it stands now, it could be either Inuyasha or Sesshoumaru. I labeled it as Inuyasha, but this has the real potential to devolve into my first Sess/Kag piece (and I really, really want to write one of those...)
