An Open Letter to the IYFG
If you are a member of the IYFG, I would like to direct your attention to this message, posted by Far Away Eyes (
farawayeyes4).
I know some of you are members who either don't receive mail from the Guild, or just delete it all when the wankwars start, but I feel this is worthy of having as many eyes see it as possible, whether you agree with her stance or not.

The more voices that are heard, no matter what the opinion, the harder it will be for TPTB to ignore.
It has been most intriguing to watch this develop.

I wrote you and said that I thought it was interesting that the main people who had come on and said amen were the people who hadn't written anything on the group or participated in nominations. I never said that 'non-writers' and 'non-participants' were the only ones that agreed with FAE. I also never said that it made the argument invalid. Hell, In my response back to her I in as much as said that there were some of her points that I agreed with.
I don't mind that you "quote" me. I mind that you quote me out of context when I specifically said I wasn't trying to start wank.

(and actually, I mis-read the comment about "nominations" wholeheartedly. I thought you meant "not been nominated" rather than "not made nominations".)

New meds=bad until they become old meds.
Thanks for correcting that. I appreciate it.

I second the 'AMEN.'
Simple is always best, and I have to agree that the massive amounts of rules, regulations, by-laws, constant polls, incessant arguing, etc. are strangling the life out of the community.
I only learned of this thread from LuxKen posting on her LJ, since any daily digest from IYFG (when nominations or voting posts are not up) gets the automatic 'delete' treatment. I have neither the time or interest in keeping up with the convoluted knot this has become.
As Wiccan also stated, I hesitate to even nom works now, since I have to trudge through the category definitions every quarter and then go trudge through the rules and then finally begin the long process of actually getting a piece through nominations. I only nominate when I run across a story I truly feel deserves the work it entails.
I don't *want* to vote in constant polls over everything. I don't *want* to break out my statistics book in order to understand the voting policy.
I want simple - nominate, second, and vote. That's it. The cream of the crop for fics will rise to the top, and anything else earns its place.
So, count me as part of the 'silent majority' who is finally saying 'enough already.'

Thanks for letting me know this was up, I would have missed it otherwise. ;)
