I dunno WTF is the holdup with the voting over at [livejournal.com profile] mirsan_fics, but I've been sitting on this installment for two weeks, so I'm ready to post it, LOL.

Woo, I received Mod's Choice! =) Now I feel all special, LOL.

This is just a very short interlude, a sort of "morning-after" followup fic to "Another Time, Another Place" - only its not just a morning that has passed, but a couple of weeks. Every day since her strange chance encounter with Miroku, Sango has returned to the place where he works, but she can't quite work up the courage to speak to him again. Different things are running through her mind - how much did she tell him, what exactly did she do, did they do, how could it be that the person she vaguely remembers is the same as this confident, flirtatious creature she observes from the darkened window? Why is she drawn back to this place, to him?

So finally, she decides to bring along a friend for moral support. In the presence of another, she can't back down, so to speak - having Akiko there will force her to confront her curiosity about the situation, and maybe take a step she isn't quite ready to take.

It's a lot to pack into 250 words, but I think I was successful. We're standing on the precipice with her, wondering if she'll move forward or if she'll turn back. I think we all know what has to happen for the plot to really start to take shape ;) but her ultimate decision is left for another prompt.

The part of the song utilized for this piece was the imagery at the front: as you stand under the barlights / and the band plays some song about forgetting yourself for awhile / and the piano is a melancholy soundtrack to her smile, which I translated into the image of Sango standing outside the bar, looking in at the washed glow of the lights, watching him from a darkened corner as the music trickled through the walls.

The next line contains the speculation I drew for the end of the piece: but you know that she's watching / she's laughing, she's turning, she's holding her tonic like a cross...

...so has he been aware of her quiet presence all along? I suppose we'll have to wait until the next installment to find out for sure! :P

The Sess muse gets jealous if I lavish attention on the others instead of him, LOL.

I understand how jealous Sess can be. How else do you think he got two chapters in an Inu/Kag fic? LOL Miroku can be hard to write sometimes and I think that's my problem with Absolution at the moment. I can see where I want him to go but getting him there is tricky. I want just right.

That's why I've been doing the drabbles, hoping something will shake loose! LOL
