A few gems from my f-list

I always approach April 1 with a bit of trepidation, but maybe because I've taken a huge step back from the ridiculousness of IY fandom lately (or maybe because I've jumped feet first into a childhood nostalgia fandom instead because of its sheer ability to make me insanely, pathetically happy), I was surprised at how many funny or positive comm posts have popped up today to celebrate this great Day o' Pranks :D (Isn't it sad how much being in a wanky, competitive fandom can condition you to simply expect the worst from a casual perusal of your friends list?)

First, there is the ~*BEstFicEVeR*~ post over at [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants. The post itself is only trumped by its comments, LOLOL. Do I smell a BNF in the making?

Then, we have the first of three posi-posts to [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets, which was led by a secret I could've made myself (though I didn't, sadly):

ETA: Part 2 | Part 3

Seriously, I've made some really wonderful, awesome friends via fandom, and I know I don't tell you guys how much I appreciate you often enough. So, consider yourselves loved, in pixellated form <3

Perhaps it wasn't fair of me to simply drop things completely and not really say "hey its me, not you" ~ so let me say it now: hey, it's me, not you. Fandom really does bring out the worst in me, especially when I'm under stress. So, if you've been wondering why I stopped reviewing your work or commenting on your journal or participating in general, that's why.

Right now? I'm not writing, I'm not reading, I'm not reviewing - BUT. Everybody's stuff that I usually read is going on this great big list of "reviewing to do" so that when I get back into IY fandom full-time again, I can literally pick up where I left off. I'm not giving up my resolution to leave better quality reviews simply because I need a vacation.

In the meanwhile, I've been working on something for another fandom that has made me downright giddy. I want to get closer to the end before I share it, because frankly? Its been nice to simply be writing something for me instead of feeling the expectations of others weighing on my shoulders as well. Its reminding me why I even got into fandom in the first place, which has been absolutely refreshing =)

It is a pretty obscure show.

Well, I'm intrigued! I might know it since, you know, we were kids at roughly the same time, lol. But we'll see.

I contemplated that, but then I thought - nah. Too much work

Yeah, I normally don't go in for that sort of stuff. I might not use it - I haven't decided. But if I do, it's less about keeping separation for the IY people and more about the new fandom. Let's just say that the age groups of the fans don't overlap a lot, lol.

I've had no desire to even think about my IY fics, but then - what I'm working on now is just fundamentally different, I think.

I get that. *nods* While IY characters have growth, manga and anime in general is much more static than most shows. I think dealing with a whole different world is just a major re-adjustment as it is! It's hard to jump back and forth.

I've spent more time than I care to admit taking caps, listening to music, and just being twelve years old all over again.

I don't think any of us appreciated it enough the first time around!

What have you been doing for the last two years? :P

Well, you're talking to someone who MIGHT just manage updating twice in 6 months. So you have a sympathetic audience here, lol. But when I'm not feeling sympathetic? Mostly staring at my laptop, hoping my psychic powers will emerge to make you write. :D

It's like, I flipped the switch and I'm seven again, and I think that's part of why I'm enjoying it so much - its something I loved before I had the ability to analyze why I loved it.

Fun! :D I'm rather that way about a few shows, myself. And it's like, when you see them again, you can just sink into it and not care that it's eons old. *another happy sigh*

Well, I have been writing ~ ! (Maybe even something you might want to read one day, LOL.)

LoL. Then, my powers are just falling a bit short! I must concentrate on having you write AND post. ;)
