So I've figured out the work-around to post to FF.net...but apparently their alert system is totally broken. I had a couple of reviews posted up last night that I've yet to receive notice for. Very frustrating >:( (Lovely reviews, though! Anon commenters: if you leave me an email address or other way to contact you, I'd be more than happy to reply to you and/or answer any questions you have! I love chatting with fellow fans =) )
Over the weekend I went on a rash of community joining, mostly because I discovered there were some devoted to 80s-era nostalgia. So if you, like me, enjoyed a childhood in the 80s (and/or ~love~ 80s TV/movies/music), check these places out:

There's also a "dead fandoms" prompt table challenge community, so if you write in a tiny/obscure fandom (or if you want to), check it out:

Personally, I've been trying to find screencaps of both Golden Girls and Designing Women to make some of my own icons... but nothing. Or nothing of any use anyway. I can't believe it! Makes me sad.
I haven't even tried to upload anything on FFN lately - I was about to and then I heard about it going all wacky. But the alert system being off too is just annoying. *eyeroll* It seems like they're always trying to expand and do new things before fixing the old problems over there.

YES. It is so much love and win and awesome. There were some gifs at

The
IDEK what's going on with FF.net. I'm just glad I didn't have a chapter of Stacy in Bloom to update, or else I'd really be mad!! Its times like these that make me want to post that story somewhere else, even though it'd be a gigantic pain in the ass because of its length...and I kinda like having all the readers of that fic concentrated in one place :P

Yup! I saw. Again - I totally need to learn how to make gif icons. ;) I did snag some of the bases over at the Golden Girls comm, although I'm not sure I'll use them. I do like having a wide range of screencaps to choose from. I'm picky like that, lol.
I was considering capping YouTube videos - I've been watching Designing Women over there lately. :D I just can't exactly what I want - I know that HD is out of the question, but it'd be awesome if I could pick an exact time stamp instead of settling on "close enough".
Like I said - picky picky picky! It's a problem. ;P

Exactly! As much as FFN drives me nuts, it's still the most visible place to post fic.
I do have an update to my drabble story to post, but I'm going to put it off until FFN sorts this out. And... use the technical difficulties as an excuse of why I haven't posted the next bit to my epic-length fic... for the past four months. That totally works and makes sense! :P

That's the thing, even when taking screencaps from DVDs - it's a pain in the ass to try to stop it at just the right moment! Icons are pretty forgiving, though, since they're just 100x100. Goodness knows the screenshots I used for my KI stuff weren't the best in the world, and they turned out okay!

*nods* That, and if its just in one place, there's more of a chance that people will bookmark it and come back to it, even if they don't sign up for alerts or whatever. It's just easier all around. Plus, I like the fact that I can just upload my documents straight onto FF.net with minimal editing. People say its not user-friendly, but it's a helluva site easier than using any other archive out there!
I received a couple of alerts this morning, for my updated BSC fic and the SiB review, so maybe things are working out? I dunno. I want to post the second half of my BSC fic, but I'm also holding out on doing that until FF.net gets its shit together. I want to be able to edit my story summaries, dammit! :P

Let me tell you how weird it is to open up the newsletter's email account and see absolutely nothing, LOL!! (Though I could live without forthy's and Kanna37's constant updates.)

I'll definitely be checking out the 80's icon community.

If you change it to http://login.fanfiction.net/story/story_edit_content.php?storyid=xxxxxx, it should take you to the edit page. At least it did for me.

But, at least you can update, and hope someone wanders by, LOL :P
