Miscellanous: WIP agenda

So, I was looking through my posts...and it seems I do one of these every month or so. Pathetic, or just anal? You decide :P

There's too much going on in my head, so here's my chance to organize it all. Right now I'm actively working on a few things, and there are pieces still waiting in the wings for my attention.

Front Burner Fics (in no particular order)

Fleeting ~ Sess/Kag un_love_you claim
*Summary: A collection of oneshots & drabbles centered around the fleeting moments in Sesshoumaru's and Kagome's relationship as they fumble towards one another. AU; Serial
*Progress: 7/30 prompts completed
*The storyline, egads, the storyline! Based on what I thought was going to be a one-off drabble in Collected Works (Chapter 12 - "Come My Way"), this thing has grown exponentially. Not only am I attempting to write a suitably awkward yet passionate romance for Sess/Kag, but I've also found myself in the thick of high-stakes business schemes, with wealthy power players who stop at nothing to gain what they desire most. The secret-brothers storyline has threatened to take over many, many times, but I am valiantly attempting to keep it in check, LOL.


Allegiance ~ drabble expansions from dokuga_contest
*Summary: Strictly-come-canon, post-manga. Kagome is forced to seek out Sesshoumaru's protection in the wake of unexpected tragedy. As she insinuates herself into his life, Sesshoumaru comes to realize her second chance is also his, as her presence drives him to confront mistakes from his own past. Serial
*Progress: 7 chapters completed
*This is on the front burner, mostly because there's a good chance to write for it weekly
*There are a few invisible parameters which are imposing challenges with this set: first of all, its non-linear (the first time I've ever attempted such), which means there are gaps all over the place, some of which I can see and some of which will surprise me; it is entirely from Sesshoumaru's point-of-view; and it is entirely based on contest drabbles. It's been fun to stretch my brain with this one, but the downside is, I'm not sure how long it will take to flesh out.


Nihon Idol
*Summary: Inuyasha meets Instant Star. Kagome Higurashi is your average, awkward teenager -- until she lands a dream record deal. Now she has to deal with fame, fortune, family, love gone awry, the high stakes of the music industry ~ as well as passing math! AU; Crossover
*Progress: 4/13 chapters posted
*My poor, sorely neglected second multi-chapter fic. I am hoping the hiatus on this one will not last a year (!). I mostly stopped writing on it because the secondary storyline was not going as well as I wanted...plus I'd totally screwed up Miroku's character. Thus, I knew I'd need to do a complete rewrite of what's already posted before continuing. I recently went back and reread it...and all I can say is, thank God it hasn't received more attention because it is horrible in its current state.
*Challenges this poses: attempting to do the hardest(?) kind of crossover, a fusion of characters and settings instead of one set of characters visiting another's world; the element of comedy (one of my weakest points, I think); not to mention that this is a glorified songfic

Back Burner Fics (still perculating but never forgotten)

In the Shadow of the King ~ Ouran un_love_you claim
*Summary: Kyouya lurks in the shadows, but controls all aspects of the game - or so he thinks. As he subtly directs the fortunes of Tamaki & Haruhi, he finds himself falling into the web of his own making.
*Progress: 1/30 prompts completed
*This has been shoved to the back burner for two reasons: first of all, the other claim at the same comm is going much smoother; secondly, I am still hesitant about writing for a series outside of Inuyasha, especially one as steeped in clever wit and stereotypes as this one. It's funny as hell, and I like the intriguing relationships between all of the characters, but I am still a bit shaky on characterizations. I've posted one piece as a feeler, and to keep the rough sketch of the story visible, if only to myself (don'tcha just love encoding hints in your work to remind you WTF you were doing?)


Fright ~ drabble entry for forthrightly's 3rd Annual Halloween Drabble Challenge
*Summary: A Halloween prank turns into something more than any of them bargained for. AU, drabble series
*Progress: 3/4 drabbles written
*When I signed up to participate in this challenge, I actually had plans to write a small interconnected series based on all three prompt words. However, due to a particularly cantankerous muse, I failed to do that, so I just entered one of them for recognition. This is quite dark, so I really have to be in the right mood to write it.


The Wrong Ending ~ yet another drabble expansion from dokuga_contest
*Summary: After three years, the well opens, and Kagome jumps in...to find nothing is as she expected it to be.
*Progress: 1/2 first chapter written
*I had a muse brainstorm fest one day on this piece, and they gave me epically!gigantic!ideas! and absolutely no way to fulfill them properly. There are a few key changes from the original drabble: Inuyasha is not dead, just missing...and there's a good possibility Miroku & Sango are just missing as well (in the original, the entire village was wiped out in Kagome's absence). It will be a quest fic, as Sesshoumaru & Kagome very reluctantly team up to find the missing Inuyasha - or at least Tessaiga - and work through their various issues. This is on the back burner because Allegiance is currently scratching my canon Sess/Kag itch.


Untitled Every Heart sequel project
*Still just a collection of ideas here: I want to expand the Sess/Rin/Snegura storyline into something akin to a quest fic, bringing in more of the Russian lore I started with in the last fic. Snegura goes on her mission to recover her grandfather's stolen memento, leaving Sesshoumaru in the presence of the quickly-maturing Rin. There's also the Inu/Kag storyline, as they deal with being a couple and starting a family, and the Kohaku sideline, as he continues his quest for the world's - or maybe just his own - forgiveness for his actions while under Naraku's control.


There are some other ideas simmering around back here as well, for oneshots or shorts:
*bunnies nipping at me for these pieces, in what was supposed to be my Eternal Destiny anniversary entry
*a Mir/San oneshot based around this song

Good lucky with your plot bunnies. Your approach to Allegiance allows you to fill in stories anywhere in the timeline depending on the prompt. You just created a huge plot in Fleeting which you could probably write about forever.

Yes, each serial is challenging in its own way. One of the requirements to write at un_love_you is that whoever is in your claim (in my case, both Sesshoumaru and Kagome) are mentioned in *each* drabble or oneshot. That's basically what's keeping the secret-brothers sideline in check, and why I am still debating whether or not to write from Inuyasha's POV as well as Sesshoumaru's and Kagome's.

Plus, there is a limit - 30 prompts in the table. I'm not afraid of exceeding this limit so much as not being able to meet it, LOL.

Allegiance I've just made hard on myself, as I just decided one day (after about five of them, I think...) that I wanted to do the whole series from only his POV. It's fun to explore his character, but at the same time, its restricting in its own way. I'm going to have to make him super self-aware, or something.

Cannot wait to see the results.

I don't feel so bad now! I thought I was scattered all over the place with various plotbunnies but it seems we are rowing the same boat. I can't wait to see where things go.

LOL, how sad is it I have to keep making these posts every month or so? And these are mostly for *my* benefit, not necessarily to share with the rest of the world just how disorganized my head is.

That's because I can be incredibly anal sometimes, haha. If tortured enough, I will make lists for anything.

That "misc" bit at the bottom of 'back burner fics'? Is at least 10x as long, but I just can't remember them all right now. Mostly I know I want to write something around those pieces by kryptoinuyasha, and the song there. The others are fuzzy and still floating.

Though its not as if I'm at a lack for things to accomplish, heh. I actually managed to mark a few off the list since the last time I posted one of these!
