Pairing: InuPapa/Izayoi
Rating: T

Based upon: a scene from Chapter 5 of "Raindrops" by Youkai Yume

The last couple of pieces I've written have been for pairings I don't normally write. This has been very refreshing, at least from my point of view; its always nice to have a break from the usual and attempt to stretch unused muscles somewhere. I've wanted to write for this prompt ever since we finalized the list, but literally up until the last day, I had no idea how I was going to use it.
I'd had a bug to write something for this pairing, but just like with anything unknown, it took me a long time to work out a situation and then justify the actions/reactions in my head. I probably go through far more grief than need be, but its worth it in the end, for characterization if nothing else.
I was looking through Youkai Yume's fabulous artwork (she just posted a new S/K piece that I had to go squee over, LOL) and decided to look through the last chapter of her doujinshi, because she'd drawn a backstory for how InuPapa met Izayoi and paralleled it to her Sess/Kag storyline (quite beautifully, I might add - of all the fanartists out there, she's probably the one who draws the best Sesshoumaru). And then it struck me...attempting to reconstruct a similar scene, from InuPapa's point of view.
Thus, I had my idea for the prompt, and I rather like the way it turned out. I sorta decided to make InuPapa like an older yet more open version of Sesshoumaru, LOL, one who would be curious, rather than offended, if some lowly but attractive human didn't pay him the respect he might have expected.
I also had the line of this song running through my head:
Give you what you're giving me / I should dress you up in pearls / Finest silk to touch your skin
It fits, no? :)
I quite like writing for the community, even though my entries aren't eligible for voting. We've had a lot of great support and enthusiasm, and that spills over into almost all of the posts. It's nice to see such positivity out there, for a change :)

I have always viewed her a spoiled princess who things happened to because she was unaware of the consequences her actions might have.
I've never really given her character much thought, period, truth be told - but I think I'm leaning your way on this. I suppose she's supposed to be a tragic figure since she's the protagonist's mother and all, but *shrug* can't say I ever felt like she was so ready for sainthood, LOL.
It was fun to write a little piece from his point of view, and try to shape his character by that of his sons' actions, in a way. You know what they say - the apple never falls far from the tree :P
Raindrops Chapter 5 is beautifully drawn.
I absolutely adore her fanart. Just...there are no words for how much I love it, LOL!
