Also, I think this is a record for getting my own stuff seconded - both within the first day! With multiple tries, no less :) You guys seriously rock my socks!!

Now - somebody second the stuff I nominated, LOL! :P

Also - the voting is up at Eternal Destiny until 2/15/08 if you're a member/interested. Dokuga noms are due at the end of the week (1/31/08).

Congrats on getting your stuff seconded so quickly!

^_^ I saw there were many people going after Memento Mori. That's completely awesome!

I'm holding off on seconding to see who does what, and see if there's any of my favorites left by the end.

I'm just glad the stories are going to the polls, whoever manages to get their name on it. That's the most important thing, no? Exactly! *nodsnods* Then the voters will actually get a say... instead of the mods *grumble*

I decided to wait and let you know second what you wanted to second. I was tempted to second Absolution, but I knew that you would want to do so. I hope that someone will second Yellow Brick Road. People tend to shy away from stories that have been DQ'd and most of them die without a second which is what the QC wants. I already voted over at ED mostly for you and Kmoaton.

IYFG Notice for YBR

Here is the IYFG Nomination notice which was just posted on YBR over at Dokuga
Anonymous (Chapter 1) - Fri 16 Jan 2009

Congratulations Emmaren — your story Yellow Brick Road has been nominated for Best Darkfic/Horror at the Inuyasha FanGuild for the Fourth Quarter of 2008!

This is only the first step in the process though—all nominations have to be seconded in order to reach voting. Furthermore, each nominated story must pass a careful screening process in order to make certain that all stories nominated at the IYFG meet our standards for technical quality. In the event that your story is disqualified for technical reasons, the IYFG offers resources to help you make improvements so that you can appeal the disqualification and have the nomination of your story reinstated. These resources include a Grammar Guide (posted on our website) of helpful hints and common mistakes, as well as a newly created Beta Group to assist you in making any changes you wish to make. You are in no way obligated to use these resources, but they’re here for anyone who is interested.

If you would like to learn more, keep abreast of your story’s progress, or perhaps even join the IYFG and participate in our proceedings yourself, visit our website at Inuyashafanguild.com (or search “Inuyasha FanGuild” if you cannot access the link). And feel free to contact a moderator if you have any questions—their contact info is available on the site.

Congratulations again!

I have not challenged the ruling nor have I communicated with her regarding the nomination. The notice was only posted on Dokuga today. I noticed it when I was reading Part 4 of her epilogue.

Do you think that I should contact emmaren?

I contacted emmaren and she had already appealed the DQ and had two people working on a rewrite.

Yay! I'm so glad to hear that. I got beat out in seconding it. ^_^

[identity profile] guelphite1.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Awe :) You're so sweet. Thank you for the seconds *hugs* Guess it looks like I need to get my seconds in quick. They're getting snapped up fast! Yeesh! Thanks for posting up the Destined Awards reminder. I certainly got my votes in ;) I was happy to see so many of yours nom'd. Good luck!!

[identity profile] guelphite1.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks so much :) It really means a lot to me. I just managed to squeak my seconds in. Hopefully they take! I already can't wait till next quarter. So many fics to read :)

[identity profile] guelphite1.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah it was a bit of a tough week. My Great Aunt died Wednesday and her funeral was yesterday. Two funerals in two weeks. I think January just needs to end already.

I was completely surprised to see I won for "Baggage" but it did definitely give me a nice start to this next week. Hopefully it'll be a good one :)

"I always sorta throw up my hands when I see you've entered the contest because your stuff is seriously good."

Hahaha it's funny you should say that! I feel exactly the same way once I see whose entered for a week. I never expect to win, or even place. There's just so many good writers in the iyfic LJ, and the IYFG, FA, ED, Dokuga, all of them. We're our own worst critics though. That's always the way :)

[identity profile] guelphite1.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Well as a favour to me, please don't say "why bother?" because I love reading your stuff :D

"I think its good to have such a strong inner critic. There are so many out there who don't...!"

LOL! I'm giving you a sly cough & nudge about a certain someone.

[identity profile] doggieearlover.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Congrats on getting yours seconded - and I think a number of the ones that I nominated have been seconded.

Now, if I could just get my own seconded... there have been multiple tries for the same ones and none for others.

I sent mine in last night - I had them all done in advance and got to writing for IYCaptions and almost forgot to send them through.

[identity profile] doggieearlover.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
I know - but I can't help but worry and feel much better when they've all been seconded - though I never feel safe until the ballots have actually gone up as far as DQs, especially since they like those last minute ones.

[identity profile] doggieearlover.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
nomm'ed some rather obscure stuff this time

I did that last time, and several of them didn't get seconded. However, I blame it as much on the lack of updates to the list and the website as much as anything. It's difficult to tell what's been seconded or not from the straight text file. And then they were so slow to send posts through I think some people either thought they'd all been done or just plain gave up.

At least it seems to be going better this time - so far.

Congrats on getting seconded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Big congratulatory huggles!!!*

Two of my fics got a one time nod and that was enough to make me *squee* like an idiot fangirl (and is totally enough to keep me happy for a LONG time!), that was the first time I've been nomed for anything even once, and I was shocked for even THAT, so I can only imagine how excited you must be!

You completely deserve your noms and GOOD LUCK on winning!!!!

(Can I join so I can vote for you on fics and not tell anyone who I voted for ;) wink wink, nudge nudge. Again, for you, but SHHHHH, LOL.? How does one go about that?)

Why thank you my dear!

Seriously... CONGRATS, this is TOO COOL for you! (I'm such a big dork about stuff like this, I get really happy when I see someone who's writing I like getting recognized... because... lets face it, there are a lot of badfics out there, and the GREAT FICS are sometimes easily overlooked in the sea of pre-teens writing Mary-Sue fics.)

LOL, me too. I sometimes think I get more excited for them than they are!

Lol... me too. It makes people think I'm a bit nuts at times! XD.

I'm fine with my work not getting seconded. I was just happy to get a single nod for TWO fics... I felt all speshul! I don't need to get seconded, it's enough that someone liked it enough to tell me ONCE.

Heh heh! I sent in two posts of seconds and nearly all of them had already been seconded. But the important thing IS that they were seconded.

Congrats on your stories being set now! I got beat out for "Forbidden Desire." ^_~

And thanks so much for the seconds on "The Crystal Forest!" That was my exercise in discovering that songfics are more difficult to write than I thought. ^_^

Is anyone else worried that so few DQs have come through at this point? I really hope there aren't going to be a ton of them right before the deadline again.
