11.) Favorite sitting charge:
Charlotte Johanssen - Charlotte has always been my favorite. I can relate to her because I was a horribly shy child with very few friends, and when I was really young, I was quite clingy. (Preschool changed all that, but still - the worst part of starting every new school year was the uncertainty of lunch and who I could sit with.) Plus, she seems pretty consistently realistic, as far as the sitting charges go. She has a bit of a character arc (coming out of her shell, skipping a grade in school, becoming best friends with Becca, joining the Krushers cheerleading squad), but she isn't perfect. She had a hard time when her parents left town in #35 Stacey and the Mystery of Stoneybrook, even though she got to stay with Stacey in their absence. But no matter what, she's still a same good-hearted kid at the core. I also enjoyed her close relationship with Stacey, and was pleasantly surprised that Stacey still baby-sat for her even during her fallout with the BSC. That feels quite authentic, which is no mean feat in the cult-like days of late canon.
Honorable mention:
Jackie Rodowsky - I was pretty "meh" about Jackie as a kid, but as an adult, and especially during this latest re-read, I've really developed an affinity for the Walking Disaster. He's such a sweet kid, and I like that he doesn't let his constant accidents get him down. Ann could've taken this character in a far different direction, but she didn't. I love his happy-go-lucky self, and his reaction when Claudia offers to sculpt him in #12 Claudia and the New Girl makes my heart melt in the best possible way every time I read it ♥

We already know my Charlotte love. I really did love Char staying with Stacey in #35 partly because they didn't have it magically be the most fun thing ever.
