THANK YOU! ♥

Thank you to everyone who was kind enough to put something in my fandom stocking. I never know what to expect, but I am never disappointed. I feel like I win every single year, LOL - even the year that I was seriously ill and had to flake on everybody I wanted to treat, I totally won :D

This year I received a little bit of everything: BSC fics, IY fics (I miss you, IY fandom!!), a Tangled fic, lots of pictures of castles and kitty cats, and even a greeting from a heretofore unknown fellow KI fan! Unfortunately, my output was not as varied - I only finished 4 BSC fics, which will at some point feature at

babysitters100. This little fic-writing spree inspired more BSC fic, as well as a character guide for Charlie Thomas, so I was definitely busy during my little week and a half of vacation :P

Quite a few of you on my f-list treated me, and I tried to do the same. There was at least one fic that I did not have time to write before reality set in, but it will be coming at some point this year. If you had a fandom stocking, I hope you enjoy your gifts as much as I love mine!!

Feudal Association: October 2015 Awards

It's been awhile since I've been able to do this =)

First of all, I'd like to thank

eggplantlady for nominating my story, "Midnight Masquerade," during the October 2015 session of the FA awards. It garnered enough votes to earn third place in its category, Best Romance, and earned me a very prescient banner, which you can see ( under the cut ) This is one of my very favorite stories I've written, period, and it tickles me that folks are still getting a kick out of it all these years later =)

A very sweet - and timely - review

I've had a yen to reread Fragments lately. I'm not sure what it's doing for me, because I don't tend to reread anything over and over and over again (not even in the heat of feverish edits), but apparently I'm finding some sort of comfort in it.

I sometimes go back and reread my IY fics and wish I could recapture that ability to write. I miss it, and despair of ever finding it again.

I know my notes are sort of a messy jumble of headcanon and mismashed medieval reasoning, but hopefully it makes some sort of sense. I think I do better within the confines of the fic itself, where I can examine these unspoken corners of society - and hopefully it becomes clear just why this collection is called The Gilded Cage :)

paynesgrey. As the only other person to request IY - as well as a dear fandom friend ♥ - I knew I had to write something for her. Luckily for me, she's also a big SessMom fan, so I was able to keep exploring my headcanon backstory for her, which started with

janey_p's A Calculated Risk.

I just love this idea of exploring my SessMom headcanon, and I'm fairly sure I'm not finished, LOL :P To that end, I've arranged a loose collection of stories centered on her - her childhood, her union, and her early motherhood - that I'm calling "The Gilded Cage" over on AO3. This collection also includes A Calculated Risk, and is loosely connected to my Allegiance post-canon universe. It's going to be a lot of fun, because there are little pockets of possibilities hinted at in the canon (how did SessMom come into possession of the mediou seki, for instance?), and I love working with rich, complex characters.

It's rather fun trying to extract the character of Sesshoumaru's parents from him...at least for me, hehe.

Cozy evening recommendations

My rec lists are embarrassingly out of date (seriously), so I figured it was high time I added to them all the amazing fic I've read this year - yes, it's been a year! Where has the time gone?? Ugh, IDK. But I *do* know that, now that the weather has become most inhospitable, and as we slide into the holiday season, there's nothing better than sitting down to an amazing set of stories. There's something for everyone here - everything from the short and (bitter)sweet to stories you can really sink your teeth into.

The response to this story has been simply overwhelming. I never, ever expected this story to attract as many interested readers as it seems to have done, so its been pleasant and wonderful and reminded me of why I enjoyed being in IY fandom in the first place. Thank you, truly, to everyone who read along, offered their thoughts and speculations, and even just welcomed me back/cheered me on. I've been in tiny fandoms for so long I'd forgotten what it was like to receive more than a handful of reviews! Just - lovely ♥

I'm definitely looking forward to my next projects, including finishing up my magnum opus Fleeting.
